Senior Vice President, Strategic Programs & Policy, National Defense Industrial Association HQ in Washington DC came to Las Vegas on Oct 11, 2019 and met with our Chapter Leadership at Joe Brown's Law Office: https://www.klnevada.com/
In attendance were (L to R): Marty Waldman - 1st NDIA Southern Nevada Chapter President: 2018-2020, www.SpaceInformationlabs.com - BD/IP/Space Systems Architecture, Jim Marchant - Chapter Political Advisor, and running for NV CD4, Tom McNamara - Consultant in Defense-related issues in the Indo-Pacific Area. Served as a Navy & Defense Intelligence Senior Executive: as Deputy J2, USPACOM (2005-2014) & Director, DIA’s Afghanistan-Pakistan Task Force (2014-6), Col (Ret) Wes Halman (noted above), Bob Cunningham - Chapter Steering Committee, David Radcliffe - Nellis Support Team Leader, running for 2020-2022 NDIA-Southern Nevada Chapter President, Joe Brown - Board Legal Advisor.

The main purpose of the meeting was to build relationships between our key leadership and Wes/HQ in the area of Programs, Policy and Chapter focus.
Topics discussed were in support of NDIA's Strategic Priorities, and set the stage for future dialog with upcoming HQ initiatives.
High level discussions took place between NDIA/SNV-Creech AFB-NNSS-MSTS and other key Nuclear leadership to discuss strategies for Military employment of Micro/Small Modular Reactors (SMR). Dr. Charles (Chip) Martin, PhD, Nuclear Engineering - Nuclear Operations & Safety SME, Executive Committee member of the Nuclear Installation Safety Division of the American Nuclear Society (ANS), Chairman of the ANS National Program Committee, Past President of the ANS-Nevada Section, Fred Dohse - MSTS COO, Steve Curtis - E.E./Health Physics & Radio-Active Materials SME, Col Doug Tippet - Creech AFB Mission/Energy Assurance SME, Ronald Fraass - M.S. Nuclear Engineering-AFIT, President-American Nuclear Society, Nevada Section, Radiological Emergency Response SME, Jim Marchant - AED Political Advisor and founder of SMR movement in Nevada with Bob Frank (above). Jim is also a 2020 Candidate for NV CD4.
This key meeting defined the blueprint for Nevada's involvement in providing a 5MW Class SMR backup capability to Creech by 2023 in a joint venture with NNSS and the Army.
After numerous local organizing meetings and a few public forums, high-level discussions took place between our local NDIA-SNV leadership and the President/CEO of NDIA, Gen Carlisle https://www.ndia.org/about/media/press-releases/2017/3/16/gen-carlisle-appointed-president-and-ceo-of-ndia to show his support for our project, and to assist in formulating the next steps.
Gen Goldfein https://www.af.mil/About-Us/Biographies/Display/Article/108013/general-david-l-goldfein/ stopped by our meeting for a few minutes and received a synopsis/showed his support for continuing to advance this project.

This meeting galvanized our efforts to define an expeditious path forward for our Chapter's involvement in providing a 5MW Class SMR backup capability to Creech by 2023 in a joint venture with NNSS and the Army.
